How do I keep my colleagues "in the loop" on our video project?

Q: My colleagues and I want to make a sales training video. I need to keep six people updated on how the project is progressing, and more importantly, they all need to approve the script, the graphics, and the final video. We're also facing tight deadlines, and to further complicate things two of the people are at company headquarters in Atlanta. Is there a way to keep everyone "in the loop"?

A: Good question. It can be difficult to keep your entire team up to date on your video project, particularly if they're spread geographically or traveling. Here's what we, and any good production company, do to ensure that all those involved in a production are kept updated:

First, we draw up a detailed and comprehensive production schedule. We build in time for review of all segments of the production: outlines, storyboards, scripts, graphics, animation, music, rough video edits, and the final video edit. All members of your team know what is happening and when their input is going to be needed.

Second, we use the internet to simplify and greatly speed up the approval process. Gone are the days of FedExing video tapes, audio tapes, and floppy discs all over the country. Instead we use the secure Client Area section of our website. During production, you and your team go to our website to choose from a variety of music and narration samples. When it's time for approvals, you can instantly view scripts, graphics, storyboards, animation, music and video. Approval is often given only hours after we've created the segment!

Q: Chris, you had a terrific margarita recipe a few months ago, but it was quite a lot of work. Do you have an easier (i.e. quicker) recipe?

A: Glad you liked the recipe! Below is an easier, but just as good, recipe.

1 cup tequila
1/2 cup limeade concentrate (undiluted)
1/4 cup Grand Marnier
3/4 cup orange juice
slices of fresh lemons and limes
1/2 cup water

Mix all ingredients in a pitcher. Pour over lots of ice. C'est tout!
