TEDDY RUXPIN® IS BACK
Heartwood produces national commercial for updated 80s icon.
[MANCHESTER, NH]- Heartwood Media Inc, a Manchester, NH based TV commercial and video production company, announced that they’ve finished production of “Flashlight”, a television commercial promoting Teddy Ruxpin®. Heartwood Media was chosen by BackPack Toys, a Milford, NH company that just reintroduced the famous storytelling toy.
“This was a very satisfying project.” said Chris Conroy, Creative Director of Heartwood Media. “When BackPack Toys approached us, we knew we could create a spot that would reintroduce Teddy to a national audience in a fun and memorable way.”
The commercial, shot on film, plays up the nostalgia factor with a scene that suggests that a child is reading under the covers at night. But when the sheet is pulled away, it’s revealed that the reader is Teddy Ruxpin® and his audience is…a mom. Her young son, who has made the discovery, asks mom if he can have his Teddy Ruxpin® back.
Said Conroy, “The spot is aimed at young mothers. We’re appealing to a mother who had her own Teddy Ruxpin when she was young, to buy a new and updated Teddy Ruxpin for her kids.”
“We talked with several agencies and in the end Heartwood had the best concept,” said Helen Hames, Director of Marketing for BackPack Toys. “The ‘Flashlight’ spot is a wonderful way to reintroduce Teddy Ruxpin to the millions of people who remember him. We’re extremely happy with the spot.”
The commercial will air nationally beginning October 23 and will run through the week of December 18. The thirty-second spot will air on stations targeted to moms and families, such as ABC Family, Discovery Health, Lifetime Movie and Lifetime Real Women, Oxygen, SOAPnet. Toon Disney, SPROUT and We.
